Lewis-Clark Air Festival

LC Air Festival was a hit! Despite 100 degree temps, a great crowd showed up for the ‘Salute To The Veterans’ at 10:00am followed by helicopter drop, static displays, helicopter and biplane rides, and the star B-17 ‘Sentimental Journey’… a great time had by all and special thanks to the sponsors, Ralph Stout, Friends of the Airport, Robin Turner & the Airport Authority for helping to make one of the LC Valley’s largest aviation events a day many will remember! -=Gs=-

Extra special thanks to everyone who came by!

Air Festival is HERE!

"Stanley" - 1930 New Standard D-25

UPDATE: Planes, planes and more planes as new additions continue to be added to the 2012 Lewis-Clark Air Festival, THIS SATURDAY, August 11 at the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Word has just been received that the “bi-plane guy,” Mike Carpentero, is bringing his 1930 New Standard D-25 “Stanley” to Lewiston and offering rides both Saturday, August 11 and Sunday, August 12.

The “Stanley” is among the few remaining examples of aircraft built specifically for barnstorming and it will be offering rides to the public for $65 for a ten-minute ride. This is a rugged, simple airplane, not designed for transportation, but for just the fun of flying.

After World War I, the American public fell in love with aviation. In fields across the country, pilots were eager to sell airplane rides. “Stanley” is one of the only New Standards that seems to have survived the crop dust era. Initially this airplane had the same owner for 37 years, then it was sold and rebuilt several times until it was purchased by the E.A.A. who refurbished the entire airplane. Carpentero acquired the “Stanley” from the E.A.A. and is excited to return the plane to its original purpose, bringing open-cockpit flight to excited passengers across the country! The public is invited to this free event sponsored by the Lewiston Nez Perce County Regional Airport and hosted by Friends of the Airport.

ORIGINAL: Lewis-Clark Air Festival to feature “Salute to Veterans” August 11, 2012. Pilots, Planes, Families, Enthusiast and Veteran alike to mark the calendar for the Lewis-Clark Air Festival, in Lewiston, Idaho (the only seaport in Idaho and an airport that connects the region to the rest of the world, according to their website, boasting services to 250,000 people annually or a number greater than SIX TIMES the population of the region!)

The Commemorative Air Force B-17 “Sentimental Journey” will be on hand plus numerous military static displays, traditional fly-in vintage and amateur built aircraft, including Addison Pemberton’s 1927 Boeing Model 40C Transport. Helicopter and fixed wing rides will be available as will overnight camping facilities at the E.A.A. compound. Breakfast and lunch will be available. Bring the kids, grandma and grandpa, too, for a fun and educational day.

Further details to be announced, while AV8NEWS has learned behind the scenes emphasis will be on participant Satisfaction. Expect refreshments, a cool room, and that warm LC friendly Smile.
